USA 2016 - Day 8
Today, our last full day in Vegas, was dedicated to shopping! In the morning we caught a bus from the strip to one of the big outlet malls, and we didn't get back to our hotel till late afternoon. After a light dinner we popped across the road to the theatre at Paris Las Vegas to see the musical Jersey Boys. Afterwards we decided to explore the casino and mall attached to Paris Las Vegas, which, as you may have guessed, is designed to resemble the streets of Paris. The shops and restaurants went on for ages, and we ended up walking through three different casinos (Paris Las Vegas, Bally's and the Bellagio) before making it back to our hotel. These malls all seem to be designed so that you lose your sense of direction while inside and the exits are always difficult to find. I would hate to be trapped inside one during a fire. The Bellagio in particular is huge, and as we were walking through it, despite the rather unpleasant odour of cigarette smoke and the depressing sight of so many people playing slot machines, I started feeling slightly euphoric. Partly it was the music and the aftereffects of the show we had just seen, but I had also heard that they pump pure oxygen into the casinos at Vegas to make the punters happy, so this may have contributed to my upbeat mood.
